Address

Aviemore is surrounded by some of the most varied scenery in the Cairngorms, with forests, lochs and mountains all accessible from the town and its immediate surroundings. Views towards the Cairngorm plateau can place the mountains behind woodland, roads and buildings, giving a different perspective from photographs made higher in the range.

The character of the landscape changes markedly with the seasons. Snow-covered mountains can dominate winter views, while autumn brings strong colour to the surrounding woodland. Mist, low cloud and rapidly changing Highland weather frequently create layered scenes in which nearby trees and hills gradually disappear into the larger mountain landscape.
