Aysgarth Falls is a sequence of three broad waterfalls where the River Ure crosses stepped limestone in Wensleydale. Rather than a single vertical drop, the river spreads across shelves and channels, producing a very different character at the Upper, Middle and Lower Falls.

The site offers both wider views of the river and tighter studies of water moving over fractured rock. After rain the falls become broad and powerful, while lower flows expose more of the limestone structure. Autumn woodland provides strong colour around the Middle and Lower Falls, and overcast light helps retain detail in both water and wet stone.
