The Barras is a long-established weekend market in Glasgow's East End, spread through covered halls, yards and streets around the Barrowland Ballroom. Stalls selling clothing, records, tools, collectables and household goods sit among painted signs, brick buildings and the distinctive illuminated frontage of the ballroom.

Weekend trading provides the strongest human activity, particularly around opening time and the busier central aisles. Displays and weathered surfaces make useful layers behind traders and customers, while the surrounding Gallowgate offers broader scenes of pubs, music culture and East End street life beyond the market itself.
