Conwy Suspension Bridge is a compact early suspension bridge whose stone towers were designed to echo the neighbouring medieval castle. Eight iron chains carry the deck between castellated towers designed to harmonise with the neighbouring medieval castle. It replaced a hazardous ferry crossing and remained a road bridge until 1958, after which it was preserved for pedestrian use.
