Address

Corsewall Lighthouse stands at the northern end of the Rhins of Galloway, looking across the North Channel towards Arran and the coast of Northern Ireland. Designed by Robert Stevenson and first lit in 1817, the low white tower rises from a compact group of former keepers' buildings on an exposed rocky headland.

The lighthouse works well as a strong architectural subject within a wider coastal landscape. Rock shelves and rough grass provide foreground texture, while changing weather over the channel can produce anything from clean, minimal compositions to more dramatic scenes of spray, cloud and broken light.
