Address

Cowley Road runs east from central Oxford through one of the city's most culturally varied neighbourhoods. Independent restaurants, grocers, music venues and community businesses line a route busy with buses, bicycles, students and long-established residents, offering a marked contrast to the university centre.

Colourful shopfronts and dense pavement activity support layered street scenes, while side roads provide quieter observations of everyday neighbourhood life. The annual carnival produces exceptional crowds and performance, but ordinary shopping periods are better suited to less event-led documentary work. Evening signs and passing traffic add useful reflected colour.
