Hever Castle is a compact moated castle with a stone gatehouse, crenellated walls and a timber-framed Tudor house built within the medieval enclosure. The Boleyn family later transformed the interior into a Tudor residence, and Anne Boleyn spent part of her childhood here. William Waldorf Astor undertook a major restoration and expansion of the estate after 1903.
