Address

St Albans Cathedral is a long, massive church built partly from Roman brick reused from nearby Verulamium, with a tall central Norman tower and later Gothic work. A monastery was established by the Anglo-Saxon period, and after the Norman Conquest Abbot Paul of Caen began the vast church whose tower still dominates the building. Much of its Norman fabric reused Roman brick and tile from nearby Verulamium.
