Waddesdon Manor is an elaborate French Renaissance-style country house of pale stone, crowded with turrets, steep roofs, dormers and ornate carved detail. Architect Gabriel-Hippolyte Destailleur drew on French Renaissance châteaux, combining steep roofs, turrets and elaborate stonework with the technology and comforts of a late-Victorian house.
