Address

The Wallace Monument is a tall Gothic tower rising prominently above the wooded slopes of Abbey Craig. Its distinctive crown and vertical form make it easily recognisable from a considerable distance, allowing the monument to be isolated against the sky or incorporated into wider views of the surrounding hills, woodland and countryside.

Closer viewpoints reveal the heavy stonework, narrow openings and elaborate architectural details, while elevated views around the monument open up broad landscapes towards Stirling and the Highlands. Seasonal woodland, low cloud and changing light can all alter the balance between the dark stone tower and its natural surroundings.
