Watts Cemetery Chapel is a small terracotta building set high within the village cemetery at Compton. Designed by Mary Watts and made with the help of local residents, it combines Romanesque massing with dense Celtic, Art Nouveau and symbolic decoration across its circular exterior and richly painted interior.

The chapel rewards close observation: patterned tiles, carved reliefs, doors and memorials offer detailed studies, while a wider view shows the warm red building among trees and graves. Soft light brings out the terracotta without harsh reflections, and the darker interior benefits from careful exposure that preserves the layered painted ornament.
