Address

West Wittering is defined by a broad sandy beach, extensive tidal shallows and an open horizon, giving the landscape a spacious and uncluttered character. At low tide, patterns in the sand, shallow pools and exposed channels create natural foreground detail, while higher water produces simpler compositions built around sea, sky and distant shoreline.

The beach is particularly effective in softer light, when reflections and pastel skies can dominate the scene, but stronger weather can introduce more texture and drama. Small figures, beach structures and lines left by the tide can be used as restrained focal points within otherwise minimal compositions, making the area well suited to both traditional seascapes and more abstract coastal photography.
