Address

Derwentwater occupies a broad glacial basin enclosed by the central Lake District fells. Ice moving through the valley during successive glaciations deepened the basin and left deposits that helped shape its irregular shores and islands. The lake is comparatively shallow for its size and drains northwards through the River Derwent towards Bassenthwaite.
