The Gateshead Millennium Bridge is defined by two sweeping steel arches that form a clean, modern shape across the River Tyne. Its curved structure works especially well in wide compositions, while the bridge's position among other riverside landmarks allows it to be photographed as part of the broader Newcastle and Gateshead skyline.

Reflections can add strong symmetry in calm conditions, and the bridge becomes particularly striking after dark when artificial lighting separates its outline from the surrounding city. Different viewpoints along the quaysides alter the relationship between the two arches, creating opportunities for more abstract compositions as well as wider architectural and urban landscape photographs.
