Address

Whitby Abbey is the roofless ruin of a large Gothic church, its tall pointed arches, window tracery and skeletal walls standing prominently above the coast. The surviving ruins are principally the Gothic church of a Benedictine abbey established after the Norman Conquest, whose great arches have been shaped by centuries of weathering and coastal erosion.
