Bryn Celli Ddu is a compact prehistoric passage tomb formed from a grass-covered mound surrounding a stone-lined entrance and inner chamber. The low profile of the monument allows it to sit naturally within the surrounding fields, while the upright stones and dark passage provide strong shapes and textures for more detailed compositions.

Its simple arrangement is particularly effective in directional light, which can emphasise the rough surfaces of the stones and the contrast between the entrance and grassy mound. Wider views can place the monument within the open Anglesey landscape, while closer photographs can concentrate on the passage, standing stones and irregular patterns of weathered rock.
