Menai Suspension Bridge is a monumental chain suspension bridge with tall stone towers and a slender deck crossing the tidal Menai Strait. Its 176-metre main span was unprecedented for a road bridge, hanging from wrought-iron chains between monumental masonry towers while preserving clearance for ships using the tidal strait.
